The CivicMinded Companion - The guide that identifies, classifies, and, defines words and concepts used by people who are making the world a better place through civic engagement, nonprofit work, philanthropy, and everyday citizenship.
national service - a formal program (funded privately, by government, or both) in which people of different ages work for nominal pay for several months or up to two years to build stronger communities in the United States and abroad in partnership with nonprofit organizations.
rule of law - the principle that a democratic form of government is based on founding documents (such as a Constitution) and laws applied equally to all citizens including public officials.
social entrepreneur - An individual who pursues large scale social change through innovative, sustainable, and systemic approaches that benefit society as a whole, with an emphasis on those who are disadvantaged.
