in society through volunteerism, financial contributions, memberships, labor unions,
indigenous peoples movements, foundations, faith-based organizations, and general
civic
participation (voting, dissent, etc.).
Internationally, the term civil society, is used more frequently.

Corporations with a TRIPLE BOTTOM LINE (PEOPLE, PROFIT, PLANET):
Committed equally to profit, society (people) and the environment (planet).
For-benefit businesses reinvest their profits to sustain their
social mission rather than distribute dividends to shareholders.
